The 35th Annual AFC HALF MARATHON is run on a fast, scenic, point-to-point course. The race starts at the historic Cabrillo National Monument at the tip of Point Loma with its world renown vistas of San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean, follows scenic San Diego Bay and Harbor Island along the Embarcadero to the Star of India, winds through downtown San Diego, and ends in beautiful Balboa Park.

The Expo will be held at the SHERATON SAN DIEGO HOTEL & MARINA, 1380 Harbor Island Dr., SAN DIEGO 92101. Expo hours: Fri. Aug. 17, 12 noon - 7 pm; Sat. Aug. 18, 10 am - 5 pm. PHOTO ID REQUIRED FOR BIB# PICK UP.All participants in both the Half Marathon and 5K will receive a special TECHNICAL T-SHIRT.
USA Track & Field Sanctioned and Certified Course HM: (CA01054RS), 5K: (CA01053RS)
NOTICE OF RESTRICTIONS: A time limit of 3 hours (13 min. 45 sec/mile) for half marathon will be strictly enforced. The course will close according to the 3 hour pace (i.e. runners must be off Harbor Island (8.3 miles) by 1 hour 54 minutes. The Finish Line will close at 3 hours - Finisher medals will be presented only to half marathoners finishing under the 3-hour time limit. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE HALF MARATHON IF YOU CAN NOT MEET THE TIME RESTRICTION.
Absolutely NO baby joggers, strollers, bicycles, rollerskates, rollerblades, skateboards or other wheeled vehicles will be allowed on the course. NO dogs.
For your safety and the safety of your fellow participants, you are encouraged NOT to use iPods, MP3 players, or similar devices during the race. However, if you chose to use such a device, it is recommended that you keep the volume at a level at which you are aware of your environment and any emergency situations which may arise.

All half marathon participants are bused from Balboa Park to the start.

There is NO race day registration or bib number & Chronotrack RFID tag pickup.
Sorry, there are NO REFUNDS and bib numbers ARE NON-TRANSFERABLE. Anyone who allows their bib number to be used by another person, and the person using that bib number, will be banned from future AFC Half Marathons.
